PNS TARIQ, the 4th vessel of the Pakistan MİLGEM Project, shall be launched on August 2 with a ceremony. As part of the project for PN MİLGEM vessels which are built simultaneously in Türkiye and in Pakistan for Pakistan Navy based on a state-to-state agreement with Military Factory and Shipyard Management (ASFAT) company as the main contractor, the last vessel of the project is being launched. The new generation corvettes equipped with long-range effective sensor and weapon systems as well as high reliability and deterrence features, besides being difficult to track thanks to their low radar cross section and low acoustic signature will increase the deterrence of Pakistan armada. The launching ceremony of PNS TARIQ, the 4th vessel of the Pakistan MİLGEM Project, is planned to be performed on August 2 in Karachi province of Pakistan.
As part of the agreement it had signed with Pakistan Ministry of Defense Production on September 6, 2018, ASFAT sold 4 PN MİLGEM corvettes to the Pakistan Navy which had been the biggest single item of exports made at that time by the Turkish defense industry. Based on user requirements and in the light of technological developments, the building processes of the PN MİLGEM Project are in progress in a quick and successful manner and according to the schedule that was planned in consideration of pandemic conditions, where 2 vessels are being built in İstanbul Shipyard Command and 2 in Karachi Shipyard.
The launching ceremony of PNS BABUR, the first vessel built as part of the PN MİLGEM Project, was performed on August 15, 2021 in İstanbul Shipyard Command with the participation of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Arif Alvi, the President of Pakistan. PNS BADR, the second vessel built as such, was launched on May 20, 2022 in Karachi Shipyard with the video message of the President Erdoğan and the participation of the Pakistan Prime Minister Şahbaz Şerif, the former Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar and the Pakistan Minister of Defense Production Israr Tareen. The ceremony for the 3rd vessel of the project, which is PNS KHAIBAR, was carried out in İstanbul Shipyard Command on November 25, 2022, attended by the President Erdoğan and the Pakistan Prime Minister Şahbaz Şerif.
