Speaking at the monthly regular assembly meeting of the IMEAK Chamber of Marine Trade (DTO), President Tamer Kıran assessed the maritime markets and stated that the global maritime trade is expected to reach, with an increase of 3.5 percent, 12 billion 383 million tons in 2022.
Kıran expressed that the maritime trade contracted by 3.4 percent on a ton basis in 2020, and then reached 11 billion 964 million tons with a growth of 3.7 percent on a ton basis in 2021, which was above the 2019 value. Kıran expressed that maritime trade is expected to reach 12 billion 383 million tons by increasing 3.5 percent in 2022.
Tamer Kıran also evaluated the bulk cargo and container markets in terms of cargo and tonnage and he stated that an increase of 1.6 percent in bulk cargo and 4.6 percent in containers is expected in 2022.
