Steel cutting ceremony was carried out yesterday at Sedef Shipyard, a company of Turkon Line group, for the first one of the new 4012 TEU vessels of Turkon Line with the participation of Turkon Line CEO O. Alkın Kalkavan. The ceremony was attended by Sedef Shipyard General Manager Erkan Mete, the members of senior management and the Shipyard staff.
Making comments on the subject, O. Alkın Kalkavan said; “The capacity of Turkon Line will be increased by 50% with the environment-friendly vessels designed to operate with 5 types of fuel (LNG -Liquid Natural Gas, MGO -Marine Gas Oil, HFO -Heavy Fuel Oil, VLSFO -Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil, ULSFO -Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel Oil).
This vessel, which is defined as eco-ship and designed to consume less fuel and carry a larger amount of cargo, will be the first vessel built in Türkiye that operates with 5 types of fuel. We made this investment for the purpose of further increasing our customer-focused service quality. With the environmental policies that we have adopted since our establishment, we care for the use of natural resources and the prevention of pollution. Accordingly, we believe that our new vessels, being hundred percent environment-friendly, will be working in favor of sustainable development. May it bring luck to our company and our industry”.
