NB1090 Futura, the world’s largest zero-emission passenger vessel with a 10 MWh battery system, was launched on November 25 as the 90th vessel to meet the sea at Cemre Shipyard.
Scheduled to operate in 2024 on the Puttgarden-Rødby route, the vessel is being built for Danish ferry operator Scandlines. This environmentally friendly vessel is equipped with sustainable and innovative systems such as the battery system and SRTP compatibility. Thanks to the hybrid diesel/battery-electric propulsion, the vessel can operate in two different modes: fully electric based on plug-in battery power at 10 knots or plug-in hybrid mode at 16 knots. The design is also prepared for future upgrades to the methanol ICE solution.
