The EU Green Deal accelerated the orders received by Turkish shipyards for electrical and hybrid vessels. On top of their plans to beat a new record in exports at the end of the year, the shipyards have actually aimed to make the main leap forward in 2023.
Turkish shipyards, which had turned the global economic recession in 2008 into an opportunity by tending towards building special purpose vessels, continue their quick rise in that field. The local shipyards which have achieved many globally blockbusting projects such as the first floating energy vessel, first remote operated vessel and electrical towboat are now preparing to set a new record in exports.
The shipyards, which experience an acceleration in orders due particularly to the green projects arriving from the EU, are planning to make the main leap forward in 2023. Cem Seven, the Head of the Vessel, Yacht and Services Exporters’ Association (GYHİB), has said that shipyards have in their order books 30 green vessels to be delivered in 2022 and 2023.
