Selling two RAmparts 2400SX tugboats to Saam Towage in 2020 and earlier this year Sanmar sold another tugboat of the same series, which it operates in its own fleet and serves in the Izmir region. Sanmar thus delivered a total of three RAmparts 2400SX series tugboats to Saam Towage.
The RAmparts 2400SX series tugboat, specially designed for Sanmar by Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd, has a compact design. Named SAAM PALENQUE by its new owner, the tug will serve in Saam Towage’s Panama operations.
Technologically advanced tugboat SAAM PALENQUE powered by two Caterpillar 3516C main engines measuring 24.4m X11.25m X 5.6m and reaching 2,100kW each at 1,600rpm, can achieve an impressive towing force of 72 tons and has a top speed of 12.5 knots.
