The end is coming for Y160, the first of the new fuel oil vessels of the Turkish Naval Forces.
As part of the agreement signed by the Defense Industry Presidency (SSB) and the joint venture of DESAN and ÖZATA shipyards concerning the building of the new fuel oil vessels (AGEM) of the Turkish Naval Force, the first AGEM Y160 has been launched.
The 4 vessels that will be delivered within the project scope are aimed at making the Turkish Naval Forces more effective in their duty of recharging fuel in harbor seas.
Developed with a national design, the vessels are expected to be built with 80% domestic sources.
200 tons of fuel
Having an overall length of 49.85 meters and a width of 9.2 meters, the vessels are able to carry 200 tons of fuel and 39 tons of fresh water. AGEM’s, which are capable of remaining on the sea for three days without any logistic support, can provide fuel to two vessels at the same time. The vessels are able to reach 15 knots of speed and their cruising range is 500 sea miles.
