Characterized by being the first intelligence vessel of Turkey, the Test and Practice Ship TCG Ufuk was put to service with a ceremony held in İstanbul Shipyard, also attended by the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Turkey, which has become one of the few countries with the ability to build its own warships, continues to work towards reinforcing its naval force. Accordingly, another marine platform built by the Turkish defense industry in recent times is now ready to serve the security forces.
TCG Ufuk, the first intelligence vessel of Turkey built by utilizing national sources, will operate to immediately identify any threats towards national security by navigating uninterruptedly for 45 days, including international waters, under severe climatic and marine conditions.
Giving an address in the ceremony, President Erdoğan remarked that Turkey is among the 10 countries in the world that is capable of designing, building and maintaining a warship using national means.
