Speaking at the panel on “Innovation in Sustainable Logistics, New Trends and Green Logistics Practices” at the 12th Transport and Communications Council, Tamer Kıran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IMEAK Chamber of Shipping, said that existing vessel could die out in the future.
Indicating that the world was falling into a new order, Kıran said:
The world was falling into a whole new order. We were going to a place where existing vessels today could be completely no longer to be part of this world. Currently, 2.5 trillion-dollar vessels were floating around the world. An economy of 2.5 trillion dollars had to be renewed in the next 5-10 years… Maybe this amount would reach 7-10 trillion dollars with the application of new technologies. As a country, we needed to be aware of this, take our measures accordingly and look at how much we could allocate from it.
