The Norwegian company Start-Up Agalas ordered a cable-laying vessel to Sefine Shipyard for its offshore wind farm project.
Supported by the cabling company Cecon Contracting and two fishing groups, Norwegian Agalas shall receive the dual-fuel methanol-powered vessel from Sefine shipyard in Altınova/Yalova in the first quarter of 2025. Designed by NSK Ship Design, the vessel has a length of 99 meters and a width of 21 meters. Equipped with a crane of 70 tons, the vessel shall have a cable carrying capacity of up to 3 thousand 300 tons. It shall also have an open deck of 1.020 m2 and a capacity to accommodate up to 100 people.
According to reports, the still unnamed vessel which is planned to install fibre optic underwater lines shall ensure a significant reduction in harmful emissions and be available for the operations in other sectors of offshore industry, including lightweight construction and cable repairs, when not used for laying cables. The contract value has not been disclosed.
Founded in 2005, Sefine Shipyard gives new building, repair and maintenance, and vessel conversion services in an area of 140.000 m2. Established in Yalova, Sefine Shipyard provides employment to more than 4 thousand people in the region, including subcontractor personnel. The shipyard can provide vessel repair services up to 90.000 DWT in the Post-Panamax sized dock and up to 120.000 DWT in the Aframax sized floating dock.
The shipyard performs new building operations for various vessel types such as general cargo vessels, ferryboats, offshore vessels, search and rescue boats, tugboats and live fish carriers.
