Sanmar delivered two tugs, Deliçay VIII and Deliçay X, from its own fleet operating in ports in Türkiye to Boluda Towage, one of the world’s leading operators. The tugs, named VB HORUS and VB AMON, were the first tugs delivered by Sanmar to Boluda.
The tugboats, delivered at the beginning of December, previously operated in the Sanmar fleet in Izmir and Izmit Bays.
VB HORUS (ex Deliçay VIII), built in 2021, and VB AMON (ex Deliçay X), built in 2022, are TRAktor-Z 2500SX type azimuth tractor designs designed by Canadian design firm Robert Allan Ltd according to Sanmar requirements for ship manoeuvring – terminal support services and escort operations.
With a length over all of 25.30m, a beam of 12.00m, a depth of 4.46m and a draft of approximately 6.55m, the tugs are powered with a pair of CAT 3516C main engines and Kongsberg US 255S FP propellers, each capable of producing 2,100kW of power and operating at 1,600 rpm. It has a bollard pull of 75 tons and a free running speed of 12.5 knots in a tractor-type configuration with azimuth propellers positioned at the bow. The tugs have a capacity of 83,900 litres of fuel and 12,300 litres of fresh water.
Sanmar Shipyards Commercial Director Rüçhan Çıvgın: “We are happy to deliver our first tugboats to Boluda, and we hope that this cooperation will continue and grow. Boluda is one of the most important companies in the maritime sector, and it is a pleasure to offer them two modern tugboats that can meet their specific operational needs.”
In addition to building a wide range of technologically advanced and environmentally friendly tugs, Sanmar operates a strong and young fleet of 32 tugs and moorings, providing safe towage and pilotage services in six ports in Türkiye.
