Progressing with its shipbuilding operations after having expanded its group of companies with the Shipyard in Kocaeli Free Zone in 2021, Norse Group of Companies launched the 74m Factory Fishing Vessel Ecofive, built for its Norwegian customer, with a ceremony organized in the shipyard in Kocaeli.
Having won “Innovation Award” in the exhibition organized in 2022 in Norway and “Ship of the Year” award in 2023, Ecofive is the 18th vessel build by Norse Shipyard so far. Furnished with groundbreaking features in the field of fishing, the vessel is characterized as being a first in its field with such properties as an eco-friendly system based on green energy, combined with high quality product output.
The ceremony by Norse Shipyard was attended by Kocaeli Governor Seddar Yavuz, Başiskele Town Governor Necip Çakmak, Turkish Shipbuilders Association Vice Chairman Orhan Torlak, Chairman of the Chamber of Marine Engineers Ahmet Uzun, Kocaeli Free Zone Manager Osman Akgül, Kocaeli Harbor Master Erol Ekmekçi, Kocaeli Provincial Director of Industry, QNB Finansbank Regional Manager Dilek Babiloğlu and many other guests.
The ceremony started with the singing of the national anthem after which Norse Board Members Mustafa Süngü and Jon Thorvald Havardsen delivered their keynote addresses.

Emphasizing that the recent close cooperation of Türkiye and Norway has made important contributions to both the marine sector and our country, Mustafa Süngü continued as follows: “During the time, we gained broad experience in the duties we assumed in many phases of the shipbuilding and shipyard operations and we blended this experience with the Turkish and Norwegian cultures which resulted in the birth of the brand name NORSE and a management system that ensures quality-oriented customer satisfaction.
With our Young, Dynamic, Enthusiastic and Productive team, we achieved important projects in no time, thus contributing to the development of relations between the two countries, and we will continue to do so”.

Stating that they feel proud of the awards won by Ecofive fishing vessel, which is characterized as the first vessel built in the Kocaeli shipyard of Norse Shipyard, Süngü continued as follows:
“Our vessel, which is the first one we built in this beautiful shipyard that we have gained last year, is also furnished with features that will revolutionize the fishing sector in Norway. This project has won the innovation award in 2022 in Nor-Fishing exhibition for fishery industry and has become another source of pride for us by being selected as the ship of the year in the Nor-Shipping organization which was organized this June and is one of the most influential maritime exhibitions in the world.”
Following the keynote and protocol speeches, the speakers and contributors were presented with plaquetes in memory of the day. Ecofive fishing vessel was launched among the applause given by the guests while a ribbon was cut. The ceremony ended with the banquet organized for the guests.
