Med Tug, MSC’s towing service subsidiary, has purchased another tug boat from Sanmar for its fleet.
Sanmar announced that the tugboat “Med Antares” has been sold to Med Tug for expansion and giant container line operations at the port of Sines, Portugal.
The tugboat “Med Antares” is the second tugboat sold by Sanmar fleet to Med Tug. Med Tug had purchased the Med Altair tugboat before, which had previously served in the Sanmar fleet and added to its fleet.
Based on the RAstar 2800 series designed by Canadian naval architects Robert Allan, the Med Antares is a state-of-the-art offshore terminal tugboat offering 75 tons of towing power.
A versatile tugboat, Med Antares has a remote-controlled fire pump powered by a CAT C32 diesel engine with a water capacity of 2800 m³ per hour. This feature gives Med Antares a Fi-Fi 1 standard firefighting capability.
