Asyaport plans to be the biggest container handling port in Turkey by 2022, with a capacity of 2,2 million TEU, after achieving handling deals at a pace of 1 million 800 thousand TEU the previous year.
Mr. Gökmen Azaklı, Asyaport’s Planning Manager, reported that the port completed the previous year with a 1 million 800 thousand TEU handling procedure and now intends to attain the 2.2 million TEU target this year.
Mr. Azaklı indicated that the main objective of ports is to provide services to vessels a in the fastest and safest manner. “Last year, operations in many European ports had to be halted due to pandemic,” he added. In light of the most recent data released, Asyaport had become the solution partner of the world’s largest shipowner MSC within this process. We invested in order to emphasize the services we deliver. We have reached a significant phase with a 20 percent increase in the number of staff we employ.”
Mr. Azaklı noted that they completed handling operations with a TEU of 1 million 800 thousand, representing a 28 percent increase over the previous year.
