Tamer Kıran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IMEAK Chamber of Maritime Trade, said that the expectation that the global maritime trade volume in 2021 will exceed 2019 still continues.
Speaking at the August Assembly Meeting of the Chambers of Maritime Trade (DTO) of Istanbul and Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Sea Regions (IMEAK), Tamer Kıran stated that the revival in tourism and relevant sectors, with strong vaccination efforts, had a positive impact on the demand for manufacturing industry products.
Noting that the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) has reached the highest level of the last 6 months, that is around 54, Kıran said: “It seems likely that growth will rise above 8 percent for the entire year”.
Noting that despite the risk of the 4th wave, the optimistic atmosphere in the economy brings the expectation of an increase in the global maritime trade volume, Tamer Kıran, said that the expectation that the global maritime trade volume in 2021 will exceed 2019 still continues.
