Gathering with the students of maritime education in Vladivostok, one of the easternmost cities of Russia, Vladimir Putin made evaluations about the Arctic region and the Northern Sea Route.
Stating that 18 percent of Russian lands are located in the Arctic region, Putin expressed that “The development of these regions and the establishment of the necessary infrastructures are of utmost importance. 80 million tons of cargo will be transported via the Northern Sea Route in 2024.”
Explaining that many countries aim to use the Northern Sea Route, Putin continued as follows: “Transporting cargos along the Northern Sea Route can significantly reduce prices for the final consumers.”
