The Turkish Ship Building Industry achieved 435.7 million dollars export in the first five months of the year. The sector which brought in 990.5 million dollars export revenue for the whole of last year, is expected to reach its target for this year as well.
Export of the Turkish Ship Building industry has reached 435.7 million dollars in the first five months of the year, 2019. Almost all these mentioned export revenues achieved in the country’s two most important shipyard regions. One of these regions is Tuzla Region, and the other one is Yalova-Altınova Region.
Region reached 161.8 million dollars of the total amount of export according to the official data. However, since head offices of some of the shipyards operating in this region, are located in Istanbul, the data does not reflect the actual figures. Export revenue of Yalova-Altınova Shipyards Region reaches 290 million dollars of the total amount of export, based on the production location. And this figure corresponds approximately 70 percentage of total export value of the Turkish Ship Building Industry.
Demands increasing Shipyards in the Yalova- Altınova Shipyards Region are conducting export to various countries especially to Norway, Iceland, England, France, Denmark, Canada, Russia. 35 percent of the current total production capacity in the region is active and operable. Demands for the region in both new building and repair-maintenance is increasing.
Advanced Technology In Yalova-Altınova Shipyards Region, new high technologies such as hybrid and electric propulsion systems, autonomous control systems are being implemented. Tugboats, fishing vessels, research vessels, passenger vessels, wind turbines construction/ maintenance vessels, platform support vessels and ferries, which are equipped with high technology, are being operated almost all over the world. These vessels, which are the work of Turkish engineers and workers, are considered as the most valuable references of the industry and they successfully perform their duties.
